Jacquelyn Stapel is a USDF Silver medalist and a graduate "with distinction" of the USDF "L" judges program. An FEI competitor, she has studied with USET team members Heidi Ericksen, Shelly Francis, Betsy Steiner, Debbie McDonald and FEI "O" judge Anne Gribbons. She has also had the distinction of being invited to clinic with international superstars Johanne Heiser, Lars Peterson, Hubertus Schmidt and Steffen Peters. She is presently working with official USEF Young Horse coach Scott Hassler. With her current mount, KWPN gelding "Atticus," she has won numerous Regional and National Championships since importing him from Holland in 2004. Her teaching and training techniques are centered around solid basics, enabling riders to communicate fairly and harmoniously with their horses. As a result, the rider should enhance the horse's natural abilities through understanding and willingness. That which is forced or contrived is never beautiful. When being judged, it is not only your ability and your horse's ability being critiqued, but most importantly, your relationship with the horse. Written by Jacquelyn Stapel
